Department of functional diagnostics and biomechanics

In «Ogonyok», the department of functional diagnostics and biomechanics was organized in 1996.
The research carried out in the department makes it possible to evaluate objectively the patient’s organ and system function, to reveal the degree of any dysfunction. Data rgathered is used further for specification of the diagnosis, determination of medical actions, an assessment of treatment’s efficiency, control of current and prognosis disease’s outcome.

Department’s equipment
• The computer optical non-contact topographer for determination of  backbone’s deformation;
• Computer complex «Tekskan» (stabilography);
• Complex hardware-software elektroentsefalograficheskiya of "Mitsar-EEG";
• Elektrokardioanalizator KM-AR-1 "Diamant-K";
• Elektroneyromiograf of "Neyro-MVP-4", magnetic stimulator of "Neuromsec".
• A complex hardware-software for registration, display and information processing about speaker of distribution of pressure between foot and a reference surface "Diasled";
• Podometrichesky measuring system (Israel).
• A complex hardware-software "Valenta" for carrying out an electrocardiography, a spirografiya and a kardioritmografiya.

Department’s staff
Highly skilled experts, having appropriate certificates, work in department of functional diagnostics and biomechanics:
- MD, professor, doctor of the functional diagnostics of the highest category
- Doctor of the functional diagnostics of the highest category,
- 3 nurses of the functional diagnostics of the highest and first category.

Methods of research
The department uses standard methods of functional diagnostics and biomechanics, and the latest unique techniques developed by the staff of leading scientific institutions of the city (scientific research institute of Experimental medicine, Physiology scientific research institute of Pavlov's Nominative, scientific research institute of Evolutionary Physiology of Setchenov).
The importance of this approach isn’t the quantity of techniques used, but their complex use; it enables a considerable increase in the efficiency of diagnosis.

In department the following research is carried out:
Electromyography: surface electromyography, stimulation electromyography– detection of speed sensing on impellent, sensitive fibers of peripheral nerves, research of late responses (A N-reflex and a F-wave).

Electroencephalography with a visual assessment of curves and information processing on-line according to original programs. Complex processing of records according to standard programs using amplitude-frequency distributions, methods of coherence, correlation, and also a mapping that makes it possible to increase the efficiency of diagnostics considerably along with the availability of visual information.

Electrocardiography is research into the heart’s electrical activity.
Computer optical topography is the detection and quantitative documentation of backbone’s deformation, an assessment of dynamics of deformation’s development.

Stabilography is determination of foot’s reference function, registration, processing and analysis of the current coordinates and path of relocation of a projection of the general center of mass of the patient on the support plane, and also load of each extremity, computation of a row of biomechanical indices for research into the mechanism of regulation of stance and support of stato-kinetic stability. There are sensors in tenzometr insoles defining a pressure level under different points of foot, a path of the center of gravity under the feet.

Podography is an assessment of step’s parameters. The insole of a tenzometr is put into footwear under the sole of the foot. While walking, pressure changes upon different points of the foot both in force, and in time. Record and computer processing of parameters of walking and step phases is conducted.

Plantography is a valuation method of level of flat-footedness by foot printing.

Spirography is a method of graphic registration of scope changes of lungs during breathing.
